T-Ball:
Elkhorn Girls Softball Association
offers a T-Ball recreational softball league for girls ranging in age from four
to six years of age.
Six is another border-line age. If your
daughter has played two years of T-Ball and is six or is ready for the next step
up the softball ladder, it is recommended that she move up to the coach pitch
league.
If your daughter has played one year of
organized softball and is not ready for coach pitch, please register her for the
T-Ball league.
Team roster sizes vary depending on the
number of girls registered and the number of volunteer coaches. The last couple
of years roster sizes ranged from 10 to 12 girls per team.
All practices and games are held at
Skyline Elementary School on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings. A first aide kit is available in one of the lock
boxes.
Registration fee includes: Practice
time, Game time, T-Shirts for players and coachest, Participation Medal, Insurance coverage.
Available for an additional cost:
Pictures and Visor (the visors are one size fits all
with a script Eklhorn across the front and can be used up through the age of
fourteen on EGSA affiliated teams.)
Participants are asked to provide:
Glove, Shoes, Drink, Appropriate practice and game apparel.
Rules:
- Base Length is 40 feet.
- The out is to be enforced to award
good defensive skills but all players bat each inning no matter the number
of outs.
- All batters will hit off the tee
only.
- In front of home plat there is a
half circle that the ball must pass to be fair (the ball must go 3
feet).
- There is a 10 foot circle around
the pitchers mound where the defensive team's pitcher stands to receive the
ball to stop the players from advancing. If a runner is more than half way
when the ball is controlled in the circle the runner can advance to the next
base, if the runner is less than half way the runner must return to the
previous
base.
- Over throws or missed throws at 1st
base can either be awarded 1 base or the coaches can decide not to advance
any bases.
- Each inning all players will bat.
(All players will bat in designated order determined at the beginning of the
game.
- Catchers must wear
helmet.
- Batters, base runners, and on deck
batters need to wear batting helmets.
- Play as many players as you wish
but no more than 6 on the infield, and no player can stand on 2nd base
acting as the second baseman. Teach the girls fundamentals, rules and
object of the game.
- One hour time limit. If less than
5 minutes remain DO NOT start another inning.
- NO intentional
bunting.
- Any other questions/rules coaches
can decide or call league commissioner as noted on your schedule.
