Elkhorn Slammers Overview:

In addition to the recreational leagues, EGSA Softball offers select teams for players who want to play Fast Pitch Softball at a more competitive level to prepare for high school to collegiate levels of competition.

Elkhorn select teams all carry the Slammers names.  When more than one team is fielded in an age division our colors: Red, Black, White, and Silver are added.  Slammers teams are available in the 10U, 12U, and 14U age brackets.  These teams complete in either the Omaha Metro or Todd Valley leagues.  Tryouts are held in July at Ta-Ha-Zou-Ka Park in Elkhorn.  A supplemental tryout is held in February at the Elkhorn High School to fill any remaining open roster spots.

The Slammers program is towards players and families that have shown a strong interest in the sport, have demonstrated they have a better than average skill level, indicated they want to play against challenging competition, and who is willing to make a commitment to practice and develop a good work ethic.

It is critical that any Slammers player have the complete parental support. The average cost per player ranges from $300 to $500 per season.

Slammers teams will typically play 30 to 60 games during the summer season. This includes about 16 to 18 league games and 3 to 10 weekend tournaments.

Slammers teams begin practicing for the summer season in winter using the gyms of the schools in the Elkhorn School District to host a practice once a week.

EGSA sponsors a pitching and catching open house on most Saturday mornings between October and February.
