12U 14U 16U Rec:
Elkhorn Girls Softball Association offers recreational softball league for girls ranging in age from 11 to 16.
12U rec is for girls ages 11 an 12. Some 10 year olds do play up in this league. 9 year olds are prohibited from playing in this league. They must play in the 10U league.
14U rec is for girls ages 13 and 14. Some 12 year olds do play up in this league.
16U rec is for girls ages 15 and 16.
Some years not enough girls register to fill a full team. In this case, EGSA will do its best to keep the Elkhorn girls together and find them a team to partner with in another league such as MAA, Todd Valley, or Rainbow.
Team roster sizes vary depending on the number of girls registered and the number of volunteer coaches. We are gong to cap these teams at 12.
All practices and games are held at White Hawk on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings. A first aide kit is available the lock box if needed.
Registration fee includes: Practice time, Game time, T-Shirts for players and coaches, Participation Medal, and Insurance coverage.
Available for an additional cost are Pictures and Visor (the visors are one size fits all with a script Eklhorn across the front and can be used up through the age of 16 on EGSA affiliated teams.)
Participants are asked to provide: Glove, Shoes, Drink, Appropriate practice and game apparel.
Rules:
The umpires (One per game) for the games will be assigned by the EGSA. In the event of a rainout or the need arises to change dates of scheduled games, please contact the opposing team coach well in advance to avoid confusion and to schedule an alternate date. Please inform the league commissioner of any changes. All games must be played or considered a loss.
1. Game rules may be altered with the mutual agreement of team coaches to complete the game in the allotted time.
2. Base length is 60 feet.
3. Pitching distance is 40 feet.
4. 4. All games should be played with no more than 9 on the field. When playing with 8 players, the 9th spot in the batting order does not constitute an out. If you must start play with less than 8 players, the 8th spot in the batting order would constitute an out.
5. All offensive players on the bench will bat consecutively whether or not they are playing the field.
6. Up to five innings will be played. If the game is tied, then declare a tie. If home team is ahead after 4 ˝ innings, the game is over.
7. Either 3 outs or 5 runs determine a 1/2 inning.
8. Time limit on games is 75 minutes. At the end of the time limit, the current inning will complete. A new inning starts once the last out of previous inning is recorded.
9. All teams must keep a scorebook in the event of a dispute over the game scores. One is provided to you.
10. The infield fly rule does not apply.
11. A batter who throws her bat is out. (This is an umpire’s ruling).
12. Base stealing of second and third is allowed. If a throw is made to any base trying to get out a runner stealing all other runners are allowed to advance at there own risk.
13. Runner advancement stops once the pitcher has possession of the ball in the circle.
14. One base allowed on an overthrow.
15. A runner may leave the base after the ball has been released from the pitcher.
16. Drop 3rd strike rule is NOT in effect; batter is out on strike three.
17. A ball that hits the ground then the batter will be called a ball.
18. All teams will play with an 12-inch (Soft) ball in good condition.
19. There will be unlimited substitutions allowed. Batting order will remain the same.
20. Hitters/base runners will wear batting helmets with faceguards.
21. There is no limit to how many innings a player can play a position. You can have the same pitcher for the entire game.
Awards will be as follows: All players receive a medal.Remember this is rec softball, we are all here to have fun!
